How does “split by chapters” work?
A PDF's chapters are its top-level bookmarks (the outline / table of contents). We cut the file at each of those bookmarks, so you get one PDF per chapter. Pick a deeper outline level to split into sub-sections instead.
My PDF has no chapter bookmarks — what then?
Splitting by chapters needs an outline. If yours has none, use Split by text to cut at a repeating chapter heading, or Split PDF to split by page ranges.
