Frequently asked questions
What does deskewing a PDF do?
Scanned pages often come out slightly rotated because the paper wasn't perfectly square on the scanner glass. Deskewing detects that tilt on every page and rotates each one back so the text lines run straight.
What is the difference between deskew and auto-rotate?
Deskew corrects small tilts of a few degrees. Auto-rotate fixes pages that were scanned in entirely the wrong orientation — sideways or upside down. Enable the “Also auto-rotate pages” option to apply both in one pass.
Will deskewing change the text in my PDF?
No. The page images are rotated, but nothing is re-typed or re-flowed. If you also want the document to become searchable, run it through our OCR PDF tool afterwards.
